the last post

On the last day of 2006, I just had to do something drastic. Been contemplating for sometime, that I should stop blogging here. This is the day that it's gonna happen. This shall be my last post at xanga. The past posts should stay here as they are, no point migrating so much shite. I'm not even gonna back them up.

Moving on...to a better place. Trust me, I'll be more ME there.

car accessories

On the lookout for nice car accessories, have to be black and red or at least black or red...to match the seats mah. The only stuff I can think of are the mickey mousy stuff...hmm...but I dun wanna turn my car into disneyland!

I've got my lion dance tissue box ready..it's red...I've got my car soap ready (instead of car perfume)...it's a bar of green transparent soap with an Anpan-man ???? figurine (he's partial red!) inside. I dun like car perfume, my nose is too sensitive, I'll sneeze.

I got to get a car guest book...so that people who sit in my car can doodle and write during the journey, isn't that cool? Haha....

ciaoz 2006

It has been a good year, I must say. 2006 - I transformed from a student to a teacher, got myself a decent paycheck,, saw my bank account grew (finally!), have a happy job doing what I enjoy doing, surrounded by friends who care (a lot!), watched a lot of musicals and plays and finally got to travel again! The minus point is I've just got myself into more debts.

Hmm....the car is coming soon...why can't it be any sooner??? Arrghh...

It's ok that I'm turning 26++ yrs old soon. I dun feel old (other than those times when I cannot tahan to stay up late) YET...I've said this many times, it's as though time has stopped since I entered NIE year 1. I still feel very 23-ish. Of course, I think friends would be less forgiving if I still use Hello Kitty-ish stuff.

Growing up comes with it added responsibilities (work-wise and family-wise) and lesser time to spend with close friends. I miss hanging out with my ODAC pals...the silly things we do when we're together, the retro songs we sing while gazing at stars lying on our backs on some hilltops/exposed rocks, the fusion dishes we whipped up during outdoor cooking, the silly games we play during camps. I can never find another group of friends who can replace this bunch. It's sigh that everyone is now busy with their new lives...that of being a teacher, an engineer, a scientist, a wife, a husband, a student etc...but I'm glad we're all matured adults, for no distance or time apart will destroy this friendship so easily. Hehe, I should say that I'm glad we all grew up together, graduated at about the same time, started working at around the same time...that's so much in common that we can bitch about. Haha...

Same goes for E, my best gal pal...it's been 10 years since I know her, she's still very much the same loud girl. We might not see each other very often these days but we warm up to each other immediately even after long absences.

My mahjong kakis too! Ohh....I cannot put down in words how much I miss playing MJ with them....it's not abt the game, it's about all the bitching and catching up..which is so rare now cos half the group's not in town!

I hope growing old doesn't equate to being jaded. In 2006, I'm no longer easily excitable. My attitude/response towards things has more or less turned into 'like that lor'....nothing is surprising anymore, it seems. Have I been through too much or what? This is not fun. I want my energy back!

I hope I'll get my energy back in 2007. New challenges a.k.a being form-keeper to young monsters (do I look like I have the maternal instinct?), having to memorise 13 cages of names (that's 1/3 of the zoo's population, you know?) await.

In 2007.....I want to excel at work. I want to be a brilliant art teacher. I want impact little lives. I want to stay out of trouble. I want to earn more $$$ and travel more (which is more difficult now that the car's coming). I want to be a more gracious Singaporean (I'll explain why some other time). I want to stretch my 24hrs everyday. I want to drink more plain water and less tea (I'm already drinking very little alcohol, you know?). I want to be a more responsible adult. I want to spend more time with my family. I want to keep my bedroom in a neater state. I want to keep my credit card bills in check. I want to win more at mahjong games. I WANT TO WATCH MAYDAY IN CONCERT...with the most expensive ticket this time, of course!

Now that's all my new year resolutions. Hmm...can I add in one more? I want a happy birthday. How? I've got no idea...haha!

of dollars and riels

Am currently in Cambodia. Been here since 14th Dec night. Totally done with Phnom Penn (PP for short). It's a pretty small town....2 days is more than enuff. Somehow, Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum dun quite give me the same goose bumps that I had when I was at the War Museum in Vietnam. Am looking forward to advancing to Siem Reap tomorrow morning. 6.5hr of bus ride...sianz...got to charge the ipod to full tonite.

It's 9 more days to Christmas. I'm more or less done with my x'mas shopping here. Just short of wrapping the gifts. No X'masy feelings here....too hot (as hot as in SGP but not as humid, so no wet armpits) and no orchard road lightings in PP. Siem Reap should be more happening cos the shops in PP close at 5pm. *yawnz*

A lot of ang mohs here....A lot of tuk tuk drivers harassing you. A lot of stone carvings...temples..... A lot of TV channels (though not as many as taiwan)...I even get to watch Singapore's Channel 8 and CNA here (I dun even watch Ch 8 when I'm back in Singapore)!

I can't wait for the next trip.....x'mas in KL! yay!
To E and swee swee SSY, can we go KL zouk on 24th Dec??

Enid in PP, cambodia
7.05pm cambodia time
8.05pm singapore time

I'm homesick

I miss Singapore...for once when I'm travelling I actually miss Singapore. I miss laksa, miss bak chor mee, miss wearing shorts and tees and flip flops, miss travelling by MRT and the cheap midnite cab charges, miss my laptop and internet connection, miss mum and dad, miss everyone back in Singapore, miss the supper outings. And it's the 1st time I miss our Singapore sun! And I even miss working!!!! This is crazy...

One more week to go and I'll be back in Singapore for one day before going to Cambodia for one more week of travel.

Currently at Kenting now, the most southern tip of Taiwan, not very cold here. Can still wear tees and pants w/o jacket. I wanna quickly go Taipei, cos that's the last stop of the TW trip, gonna spend abt 4 nites there....yay...Shilin nite market!!!

Shucks this keyboard sucks...but it's free internet connection @ the hotel, so I shan't complain. This hotel is damn cool. It's called Hotel California....it's a surf wear shop at ground floor with hotel rooms at upper floors. Shucks, nothing is impressive in TW for me anymore. Have I travelled too much? The beaches cannot be compared to Thailand beaches, the waters cannot be compared to Malaysia dive sites, even the shopping cannot win our Bugis street stalls, The Kaohsiung Love River cannot win our Singapore River + Boat/Clarke Quays... jialat....And I think I've finished eating all the street eats too!!! It's an indication...for me to go home.
